General Description of Duties:
Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance and support of fleet operations. The General Assistant will assist fleet mechanics and technicians in servicing district vehicles, maintain a clean and organized fleet area, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and a commitment to operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Assist fleet mechanics by cleaning air conditioning filters and preparing necessary tools and materials for service.
- Print trip reports and other documentation for fleet vehicles as needed.
- Refuel 55-gallon drums of diesel and washer fluids, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper handling procedures.
- Support operations at the fuel island during deliveries by assisting drivers with fueling their vehicles and managing DEF supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the fleet area, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks and upkeep of fleet tools and equipment.
- Transport fleet vehicles to vendors for repairs and retrieve them upon completion of service.
- Deliver parts and shop supplies to designated locations within the fleet operations.
- Support leads and clerks in gathering mileage and hours data for fleet vehicles in preparation for inspections and operational reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role or automotive environment is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the fleet area for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
