Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform district-based duties associated with processing insurance benefit information and reporting. Employees in this classification function at an assistant level capacity and provide guidance, maintain records, and verify adherence to current processes. Performs related work as directed.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
Provides customer service and education to new & existing employees to assist them in selecting an appropriate insurance program.
Generates and transmits various reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Assists in overseeing the process of running weekly payroll edits to determine if any errors have occurred in all payroll insurance deductions including summer adjustments and refunds.
Assists in overseeing the process of preparing leave of absence billing including FMLA and disability waivers.
Assist in the compilation and the review of data related to eligibility and/or premium payments.
Assist in analyzing critical eligibility and insurance premium reports to identify discrepancies and make the necessary corrections.
Performs manual program calculations of insurance premiums, summer adjustment premiums and refunds. Enters the specific wage type into the system.
Provides support, training and guidance to district personnel regarding the Employee Self Service process as it is related to enrollment and making changes to their insurance plans.
Performs testing of technical functions of the internal system to verify the processes are working correctly and, if necessary, document errors.
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data; utilizes word processing, database, and software programs.
Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department activities, which may include a typewriter, adding machine, or fax.
Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology used by OCPS that is job appropriate. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
Keeps the immediate supervisor and Insurance Benefits Systems Specialist informed of critical issues and incidents. Performs testing, analysis, and documentation for insurance benefits system upgrades and process improvements.
Create reports/spreadsheets regarding various insurance plans at the request of the Administrator, Insurance Benefits Operations & Systems.
Assist in the preparation of the work location payroll, verifying information on timesheets and entry of absences in the portal.
Responsible for timely and accurate information maintained as part of the job responsibilities.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; and five (5) years’ experience in employee benefits or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may require ability to utilize principles of fractions and/or interpret graphs.

ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
