Overview

Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide quality print and copy materials as requested by district personnel. Employees in this classification receive, prioritize and respond to print production and copy work orders in a time effective and cost efficient manner. Position operates high speed/volume photocopy equipment, as well as various other equipment and tools specific to binding, collating and producing a wide variety of printed materials. Essential functions as outlined herein are performed according to the functional area of assignment. Performs related work as directed.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.

Receives, prioritizes and processes work orders concerning copying, printing, and binding requests from school district employees, teachers, and administrators.

Coordinates required services with appropriate vendors when applicable.

Performs skilled operation of various equipment and machines, i.e., electric stitchers and cutters, high volume copy machines, collators and binders, laminators.

Prepares equipment and machinery for production, i.e., loading paper/envelopes, replacing printer inks and cartridges, loading developer, loading wire and binding tape, cleaning glass.

Monitors inventory and fills out purchase orders to maintain adequate supply levels, i.e., paper, binding materials, ink, and toner.

Performs routine cleaning maintenance on equipment and machinery; reports maintenance or repair needs in a manner to minimize disruption in routine unit activities.

Prepares completed work orders for distribution; delivers paper supplies to district offices and assists with photocopy machine installations as requested.

Maintains files of materials processed or received, i.e., print and copy request forms and work orders, meter readings, paper inventory.

Ensures adherence to established safe equipment and machinery operating principles and procedures.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of print production vocational training or experience in operating high speed/volume photocopy machines and finishing equipment, with demonstrated ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures or routines.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards to specific situations.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of high speed/volume photocopy machines and printing/binding finishing tools and equipment.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and design data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Involves routine work according to clearly prescribed standard practices, with some latitude for independent judgment.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.

ADA COMPLIANCE

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors.

Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, and strong odors.
