Position Summary
The After-School Program Hourly Employee provides supervision, academic support, and enrichment opportunities for students participating in the school's after-school program. The employee ensures a safe, positive, and engaging environment while supporting the educational mission of Orange County Public Schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise students during after-school program hours.
- Ensure student safety and maintain appropriate student-to-staff ratios at all times.
- Monitor student behavior and implement school-wide expectations and discipline procedures.
- Assist students with homework, class assignments, and academic enrichment activities.
- Facilitate structured recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
- Take and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Assist with student sign-out and dismissal procedures.
- Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and school administration.
- Ensure all program areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all OCPS policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Report accidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, and other incidents to the program coordinator or administrator.
- Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, assistant principal, or program coordinator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with elementary-age children preferred.
- Ability to supervise groups of students effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and families.
- Must meet all OCPS employment requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively supervise students for extended periods.
- Ability to move classroom and activity materials as needed.
Work Schedule
- Part-time hourly position, max 29 hours per week.
- Typically Monday through Friday during after-school program hours.
- Additional hours may be required for training or special events.
