Under direction, the purpose of the position is to daily operate an assigned school bus on an assigned transportation route for the school district. Employees in this classification are responsible for the safe transportation, loading and unloading of students to and from destinations, and ensure all bus activities support the safety and welfare of all persons. Work is performed in conjunction with bus monitoring personnel, and includes ensuring appropriate securing of students and the provision of required assistance to students with special medical needs. Performs related work as directed.

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide assistance in the education, care, and development of students with severe disabilities. Employees in this classification perform instructional, clerical, and behavioral management duties. Work is performed under the direction of a certified teacher, guidance counselor, or administrator. Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide staff support in an educational or child care environment, performing paraprofessional work in assisting teachers and students. Employees in this classification work with certified teachers, occupational therapists, and other certified specialists in the education, care, and development of mentally, physically, emotionally disabled, and other special needs students. Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to maximize automotive vehicle, school bus, and automotive equipment operation through efficient repair and maintenance practices to extend the service life of each item. Employees in this classification perform basic preventative maintenance mechanical service and minor repair work for both diesel and/or gasoline powered automotive vehicles and equipment, and are responsible for inspecting tasks upon completion for adherence to technical specifications and principles of safe vehicle operation. Emphasis of the work is on preventive maintenance, and incumbents exercise judgment in referring major and/or complex service requirements to the shop garage. Performs related work as directed.
